My training program was created using the techniques of many legendary horseman including Buck Brannaman, Ray Hunt, Tom and Bill Dorrance and Jeff Griffith. Using a horse’s natural way of moving, thinking, and learning, I can teach a horse what I am asking without fear.  The first step is to create a solid foundation using fundamental groundwork. Groundwork will include “desensitizing” in which  the horse gains confidence and learns to relax in stressful situations; as well as “sensitizing” where they  learn to become soft and flexible, move their feet ,and follow a light feel from the halter and lead. Everything the horse learns on the ground will properly prepare them to be safe and respectful under saddle.

Once in the saddle I use refinement of basic groundwork to teach the horse to be responsive to seat, leg and rein cues while maintaining the horses own balance. The horse will learn to softly bend and move different parts of their body separate from the rest; including the poll, front and hind quarters, ribcage and feet. These are all very important in teaching the horse to perform any maneuver desired whether basic or advanced.

It is very important to me that the owner learns as much as the horse. No training is valuable unless the person working the horse can use it properly.  I include one free lesson per week for the duration of training. Using a finished horse for each lesson, the owner will learn all the techniques and tools they will need to communicate with their own horse when training is over.  This allows the owner and their horse to learn together so that they will leave the program on the same page.

My training method is not event, breed, or discipline specific. My goals are to create safe, willing horses as well as educate people on proper horsemanship. I would love to help you and your horse accomplish even the tallest of dreams. So whether your goal are to show at the highest levels of competition or have a bombproof trail horse, my method is tried and tested to help you and your horse succeed.
